The oldest professional medicine in the world with extensive research supporting its medical use. Focus is on the balance and harmony required for health. Tools such as acupuncture and cupping are used. Acupuncture and cupping are Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques used to guide energy (or Qi) through the meridians of your body to increase blood circulation and remove obstructions. An initial visit and Naturopathic Consultation is needed to make an accurate assessment.
Cupping is primarily used for muscle pain and relaxation. Acupuncture can help with a variety of symptoms and conditions including:
This modality utilizes the medicinal properties of plants to target hormones, metabolism and inflammation with potentially fewer side effects than conventional medications. It can be applied through the use of tinctures, teas, capsules etc.
Naturopaths are trained to assess and ensure that there are no concerning interactions between naturopathic treatments and medications.
With clinical nutrition, we examine the relationship between diet and health. We use whole foods, food elimination, variation in dietary habits and nutritional supplements to treat disease and promote health.
Women’s health is a complex interconnection of hormones, genetics and environmental factors. There is often a multitude of factors that influence fertility without one set answer for everyone. However, concerns such as severe cramping, PMS, menopausal symptoms, low libido etc. can and should be addressed and treated. I provide an inclusive and LGBT2Q-friendly service in my practice.
Even with chronic conditions there are ways to prevent progression, minimize symptoms and maintain function
Testing is available to learn of barriers that are holding you back from achieving your health goals. Naturopathic Doctors are equipped to perform full physical exams if needed, including, but not limited to: gynecological health exams (Pap smears and cultures), breast exams and general wellness screenings.
Cosmetic/ facial rejuvenation acupuncture brings out the natural glow and beauty of your complexion by stimulating collagen production, toning the facial muscles and reducing lines/wrinkles, puffiness and scarring.
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese therapy where practitioners place hair-thin needles into specific points on the body to encourage and stimulate healing.
In cosmetic acupuncture we use 3 needling techniques to rejuvenate your health, skin and complexion.
1) Treating from the inside out.
The natural glow and beauty of our complexion comes from the inside and our general state of health will always have an effect on our outward appearance. This is why, with cosmetic acupuncture, we use points on your limbs and body to target sleep, digestion, stress and any other concerns which could be affecting your skin and overall health.
2) Intradermal needling.
Tiny needles are placed no deeper than 4mm into the skin around scars and into wrinkles to elicit a healing reaction from the body. The “micro-trauma” created by the needles stimulates the production of collagen and elastin and increases blood flow to the skin.
3) Toning facial muscles to “lift” the skin.
Specific acupuncture points on the head, face and chest are used to target and tone the muscles responsible for facial expression and lifting the skin. This is why cosmetic acupuncture has been coined the “non-surgical face lift”. Furthermore, this style of needling can help reduce the heat that is produced by tight resting facial muscles which may reduce skin dryness and improve elasticity.
Initial Visit (60-90 min): Your first appointment lasts 1-1.5 hours and includes an assessment and discussion of your goals and areas where you would like to focus treatment. An individualized treatment plan will be devised to address your specific dermatology (skin) needs and which health concerns (Jaw pain, headaches, digestion, anxiety, sleep etc.) can be treated simultaneously. This initial visit includes your first treatment.
Follow-up visits (60-80 min): Each visit begins with a brief discussion of your week to make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan before targeting the traditional non-facial acupuncture points. We then move on to a gentle gua sha treatment and facial massage to relax your muscles and promote blood flow. Once relaxed, we insert the facial needles which will remain in the skin for 15 minutes before we finish the treatment with a jade roller for cooling the face
Protocol and Rates:
Rates: $160 per treatment, 8 -10 treatments recommended.
*Most extended healthcare plans cover naturopathic medicine.
An initial course of treatment (10 sessions over 6-8 weeks) is recommended for lasting results. Although you may experience a refreshed complexion after 1 treatment, to elicit maximal benefit and lasting change, your muscles and skin require repeat stimulation. As it takes skin around 30 days to completely renew itself, we allow at least this much time for results to appear.
After your initial course of 10 treatments, a maintenance treatment is recommended every 1-3 months.
